Volunteer Days:

LINPI realizes its mission as a non profit organization with the help of talented and motivated volunteers. Throughout the year, LINPI will make numerous volunteer activities available helping us advance our efforts to produce locally sourced plant materials for Long Island's nursery and landscape industry as well as the general public.  Volunteering is a mutually beneficial endeavor; LINPI receives the help we need to advance our goals and our volunteers are afforded an opportunity to advance their knowledge of native plants and plant propagation.

Please join us!  The volunteer opportunities for Spring 2015 are:

Goals

LINPI conserves biodiversity by preserving the genetic heritage of Long Island’s native plant populations. This is accomplished by establishing commercial sources of local ecotypic (i.e. genetically native) seed and plants for native plant production, contributing to a regional seed bank, fostering a demand for native plants and serving as a propagation resource for the nursery industry. There is a focus on capturing as much genetic variation as possible when collecting and propagating plant material while minimizing the ecological impacts of harvest.
