First Annual CSJ BioBlitz

Join the Sisters of St. Joseph Sustainability Department for our First Annual BioBlitz! A BioBlitz is a community science event where participants race to identify as many species of life within a given time period. The BioBlitz project will help categorize and document the diversity of life which makes this 212-acre campus home.

The day will include: an introduction to iNaturalist, an identification app, as well as basic identification skills, exploration of various natural spaces, and an identification and recap session with provided lunch.

All are welcome to contribute to our celebration of diversity.

Schedule of the Day:
9-9:45 a.m.: Orientation and Light Refreshments in La Providencia Auditorium
9:45-11:45 a.m.: Cataloging and Exploration on the Campus
11:45 a.m.-1 p.m.: Lunch, ID Session, BioBlitz Results Recap in La Providencia Auditorium

Please bring a smart phone with the iNaturalist app downloaded.

Participants are encouraged to wear pants, long sleeves, sunscreen, sun hats, and closed-toe shoes.

Feel free to bring magnifying glasses, butterfly nets, and ID books. We will be providing these supplies, as well.

This event is free and open to all ages and ability levels.
